This was on its way to 5 starts until part III, I appreciate everything this book aimed to do I’m just not sure it was all executed well by the end. But, never read a book written like this very interesting and thought-provoking

If you love queer yearning this is the book for you. Jack is absolutely OBSESSED with Bess and it kept making me smile.

This book is such a great commentary on capitalism, ownership and queerness (and especially transness). It's a bit difficult to read due to the language and the fact that there's kind of two stories happening at once, one in the main text and one in the footnotes. I think a lot of things went over my head, but as someone who has quite a bit of philosophical knowledge I could fill most of the gaps in myself.

The story itself isn't that engaging, the beauty of this book is representation and it's political value, in my opinion.

Top 10 books that have the barest amount of story to justify it being fiction and not an academic book. 10/10 no notes, would recommend.

Not the book to read via digital copy, given all the footnotes, but I’m still very interested in reading if I can get my hands on a physical copy at some point

I was really confused listening to this audiobook because the narrator didn’t do much to change his tone of voice and there are a lot of footnotes added (which I expect would be much less confusing seeing the words on a page)
