Mary is not my friend. Insufferable individual.

(That being said, my copy came with HDM's Lantern Slides, and I thought they were beautiful.)

DNFing on page 117 (23%)

Couldn’t force myself through it and I shouldn’t have to, DNFing is something I definitely need to work on.

The way I would be absolutely unable to read the alethiometer or cut with the knife given I've never successfully seen a magic eye puzzle in me life

I love this series. This third of the "His Dark Materials" trilogy was a wonderful conclusion to the story! All the resolutions were not as i had hoped, nor did everyone live "happily ever after" in the end, but the conclusions resonated well with real life and with Truths i've come to know and embrace in my own life. What a great series. I am looking forward to reading more from this author!

wow...

That was a great finale to a great trilogy, that left me feeling both satisfied as a little empty. In a good way though. The Amber Spyglass takes all of the set-up from the first two books and manages to take all these plotline, let them intersect, join, and eventually finish it all in a satisfying way. Basically all of the characters have some role to play in bringing Lyra and Will's journey to an end. There's not as much of the world-building that was so prevalent in the earlier books, but we're still learning things about this universe, and instead we also get so much more insight in all the characters, which I was very happy with. It ends on a very bittersweet note, and this book solidified this trilogy as one of my favourite trilogies. I'm honestly already tempted to reread it.
