A solid 3.75 rating.
I really loved 'The Wife and the Widow' and 'The Nowhere Child', and although I can't say the exact same for 'Wild place', I still enjoyed it. It was quick, entertaining, and I loved that it was set in the 80's. Working out who was involved in the murder wasn't much of a surprise. As the novel drew closer to the end it was quite predictable. However, It was just the read I needed and I still found it very enjoyable. Christian White's novels are easy to read. He has a way of drawing you in and keeping you up late at night turning the pages. I would always recommend his novels to those interested in this genre.

Christian White has become a go-to author for me. I think I'll probably always read whatever he writes.
This book lost a star because of it's predictability and simple characters. It's the kind of book that's been written before, and I didn't feel shocked when plot twists were revealed. Even saying that, I still really enjoyed listening to it.
This is the second Australian book I've read this year set in the 80s. The other was Boy Swallows Universe, I wonder if it's going to be a popular thing...

Easy to read, loved reading about an Australian town in the 1980's.
Story felt a little slow, or maybe I just wasn't that invested in the story. The twists and reveals didn't feel super suspenseful or shocking.
I didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed The Nowhere Child, and The Wife and the Widow.
I didn't feel like the characters had much depth, and didn't feel overly connected to any of the characters.
The developments felt just dropped into the story out of nowhere, with no lead up, I think for the shock factor but just felt disconnected.
