“Rules of Entanglement” is the second book in Gina L. Maxwell’s Fighting For Love series, and I thought it was a fantastic read! This is Jax and Vanessa’s best friend’s brother/vacation fling/fake dating romance.

The reason Jax and Vanessa’s story was such an amazing read is because it had some of my favorite tropes, was full of hilarious, laugh out loud banter, and somehow managed to be flirty and lighthearted while also having emotional, serious, and intense moments.

Even though neither Jax nor Vanessa were looking to fall in love, or even for a serious relationship, things changed for them both as they spent more time together. They didn’t exactly start off on the right foot, but I loved how their relationship grew and developed over the course of the novel.

Let’s talk about these characters. Jax was definitely a swoony hero; I loved how attentive he was towards Vanessa, and how he pushed her out of her comfort zone. Jax did make mistakes, but in my opinion, he more than made up for them.

And Vanessa! I thought she was a highly intelligent, incredibly successful heroine, and I loved the fact that even she had a lot of walls up at first, that it was okay to let the right person tear them down. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good vacation romance!

Holy cheese and crap on a cracker! Jackson Thomas Maris you are one amazeballs character. Gina L. Maxwell you are one amazeballs writer. Please don't ever stop writing or this series. Cannot wait for Fighting Irish!

This was a cute book with a good plot. It was well written and the characters were well developed. It was definitely a sexy, steamy read. Would read other books by this author.

I won't lie, this took my AGES to read ! This was a fun read, but the chapters we just too long. And while I love strong FMCs... Vanessa... well.. let's see say she overreacted?

I loved the premise, the trope * chef's kiss* the spice... wow.. but in terms of plot, not really much going on.

💕best friends brother
💕reformed playboy
💕he's a fighter, she's a lawyer
💕they have a deadline 🍆👀🥵

I will eventually get to the next book as it's about Vanessa's sister who is briefly mentioned in this one.

I’ve found that I enjoy a good MMA fighter story and it delivers in Rules of Entanglement by Gina Maxwell. Ms. Maxwell is a new to me author and I am excited to try more. There was some ties to the first book in this series and I think the background would have enhanced my enjoyment of this story I felt this could be read as a standalone. Vanessa has enough chaos growing up and loves that her life as a DA is very structured and can be balanced. Jax moved to Hawaii to make a major change in his lifestyle and that included living life very casually and taking life one day at a time. As these two are thrown together to finish planning a wedding, they may be complete opposites but they can’t deny the sizzling attraction. But Jax started their week off with a pretty big lie, something that Vanessa can’t stand. As their week together comes to a close and the truth comes out can Jax convince Vanessa that he’s worth a second chance? Really sweet and spicy read with great characters. Can’t wait to continue this series!

I usually love lengthy books but this, to me, just felt a bit like it took me forever to finish it.
