This series started off strong and just fell apart as time went on. The first person POV in the last two books were unbearable, and the pacing skyrocketed for no reason. I really enjoyed the first book, The Black Tides of Heaven, but everything after that pales in comparison.

There was SO much to like about this book. The world building, the magic, the complicated relationship between two powerful siblings. I think this isnt a full 5 stars for me because I think I expected more action, maybe for the plot to be more eventful? I don’t know how else to describe it. The story IS interesting, don’t get me wrong. I think somehow, I just expected… more?

This series was so fun to read. The different styles of the novellas kept me on my toes for sure and the world building was FASCINATING. Definitely want to get ahold of more from this author.
