"A Simple Plan" is about three friends (two rednecks and one who's slightly better educated) who accidentally stumble across $4.2 million in the back of a crashed plane, and decide to split it if no one goes looking for it. Once we learn about their plan, we watch the friendships disintegrate through the remainder of the book as the thieves argue over the money they've found.

It's a depressing book that I didn't particularly like. I don't like overly positive books or stories that have overly pat endings, and this book is pat, only in a negative direction. No one wins, and that depressed the hell out of me because I want people to make progress and no one (I repeat NO ONE) was better off by the end of this book.

This book was well written, but it made me realize what a rule follower I am. I found myself screaming "no, don't do it!!" a little too often, but a good read.

Un montón de personas estúpidas, haciendo muchas estupideces después de encontrar mucho dinero. Es algo entretenido, pero en general el nivel de estupidez de todos los personajes es irrisorio e inverosímil. Final muy flojo.

WOW ... murder, greed, plotting. The movie (which was terrific) has a somewhat different ending. I'm torn as to whether the movie or the book is better. But the book is fantastic.

I'm already bored to tears. Which is sad, because this book seemingly has potential. I was hesitant to pick it up after The Ruins, but Stephen King gave this high marks, so I guess I have to suck it up.

11/19 - I really hate this guy. I should've known better after The Ruins, but I tried anyway.

::sigh:: And the really sad thing is, this story could have been so much better in more capable hands. It's a really great story. It reminds me of a modern-day version of the story behind The Pearl. Notice I threw a lot more words in there, because there is no way I'm comparing this jackass to Steinbeck.

Ugh.
