Starts out slow, then halfway through the battle starts that continues for the rest of the book.

The first part gets into the time of troubles, but it's not really built out beyond some handwaving and magic being weird.

Possibly cleric quintet should've been before this book?

I found it a little uneven and disjointed, but the Time of Troubles part is pretty cool.

Despite being tired of the Underdark at this point I found this book exciting and interesting. Seeing the fallout from Legacy & Starless Night play out was exciting and interesting. Though it required two books, I was excited to see what was happening in Menzo. I enjoyed how the big final battle took up a significant portion of the book. I'm actually excited, albeit a little nervous, about the conclusion as I felt this was a good stopping point for this series and capping a nice trilogy. BUT WAIT! This is actually a tetralogy?! There's another book. Now I'm curious as there are some loose ends and we seem to be leaving the underdark for an Icewind Dale return!! Yay! I want more Sword Coast personally.

This one is slow to start as it deals with the Time of Troubles, but finally in the second half the long promised war between the dark elves and mithril hall arrives and it delivers on all fronts. Another splendid installment.
