Elle Kennedy does it again.

Before reading this book I 100% recomend looking up the trigger warnings as this book does have a bit of triggering content.

The deal is one of my all time faves and I picked this book up
not knowing this was a second gen book that follows hannah and Garrett's daughter.

Also the female sports representation is incredible and needed, I have never read a book where the FMC is the hockey player,
this book also covers how unfair womens hockey is multipul times and brings up an important conversation.

The only issue I have with this book is how quick the end was. The first half of the book dragged on but the last 100 pages felt rushed.
especially the marriage plot

Hannah and Garret feel like grown up version of them selvs which is nice because in some second gen books the parents feel either 1 - as if they haven't aged and are still collage aged or 2 - like compleatly new charecters

The best example I can think of is that
Garrent still calls hannah wellsy or how he is so protective over their kids.

someone wanna tell me why i got weepy at this FUCKING HOCKEY BOOK

briefly coming back to this review to add: i get the pwhl didn't exist when this book was written, but come on. there were SEVERAL professional women's hockey leagues at the time of writing/publishing, and not a single mention? no nod to the phf? pwhpa (this one i get because of the ties to team usa i guess)? ewhl? anything? foolish.

I love the 'next generation' concept of the book. Although I do wish i read 'the deal' to get a backstory of all the characters. I think if I read the deal I'd have liked it even more.

Gigi and Ryder's relationship was very healthy and mature which i was glad to see.

I hope Will and Beck get a book (maybe where they end up together).

I also can't wait for the next book (which i surmise is about Diana and Shane!)

However, i think the guy Gigi kissed before getting with Ryder (not naming who) was hot but a bit unnecessary.

I also think the book was a bit too long which was probably down to the fact they had to keep their relationship a secret from everyone- especially her ex- for such a long time. Gigi's people-pleasing kind of annoyed me in this way but that's one of her flaws she manages to overcome!

Unpopular opinion - I hope that Case does not get his own book because the guy was a bit of a dick and I got quite irritated seeing Garrett give Case a hug despite knowing he cheated on his daughter.

Well, this was... disappointing. The plot had potential but the overly unnecessary smut didn't give it enough room to grow.

Bear in mind, I like the Off Campus and Briar U series, and do expect the smut and some quirky characters. However, there was something about this book that was off-putting. I only finished reading it because I fell in love with Hannah and Garrett in The Deal, and wanted to give their daughter a chance. But, shucks! Gigi is definitely not a loveable character.

The whole ex-boyfriend situation being treated like it was a cheating scenario was absolutely ridiculous! The exhibitionism was weird af. The way the marriage trope was done is tasteless.

Anyway, this is definitely not my favorite Elle Kennedy book.
