This would have been 5 stars except I felt like Allen was trying a little too hard to use young, hip language and came off as what it was: an older person trying to convince you that they're young and hip. Regardless, it's still an entertaining story with great characters.

i love the idea of a retelling!! and to make it from the POV of the family's dog... but i don't love the insertion of a love story?? i feel like it overtook the original plot of the book.
