Really interesting read was quite hard to read some parts as it just seems such an insane life to live, and how he made it through and is still battling is amazing.

I think that this book would have been outstanding in my eyes if I was a massive fan of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, which unfortunately I'm not a die-hard fan, I did enjoy it, but it was talked up a lot by others and didn't quite live up to expectations for me.

What I would suggest when reading this book, is when you are reading the parts where Anthony writes the lyrics to some of the songs he created, is play the song he is writing, and read along. That was a really good idea on my part to do, as there were some songs that I had no idea what was being said, and now I was reading exactly what it said.

All in all, I think it was a really good book, wouldn't in my top list of books, but I think definitely worth a read.

I love this book!! Always loved the Chilli Peppers since the first time I saw them in 1992 at the Lolapalooza, they have such great energy. Reading the book was a pleasure; it is a very honest biography and Anthony Kiedis comes across as a very real, super spiritual guy who tells the story of the band and his experiences. He really partied wild and knows how lucky he is to have found "Brothers" who have shared their journey together in a beautiful way. Couldn't put this book down and stayed up all night to finish it. Highly recommended!!

This book starts off well and even though it seems like it’s going somewhere positive, AK truthful to his actions, repeatedly writes about relapsing and taking lavish trips to tropical paradise hoping to sober up with flimsy intent and failing. The book wraps up with hardly any valuable insights. This book is more journalistic and cathartic for AK than it is for his readers. I suppose he figured his personal journal would be great content for a devout fan. For the average reader I’d say it’s likely not worth the read, it’s a long one, with fairly pedestrian prose.

Tied together very nicely at the end with inspiring and hopeful messaging about sobriety. Although, I found Kiedis’s descriptions of young women as a much older man quite disturbing at times. Not a great person but he’s certainly lived a lot of life in his few decades of life.
