Can't understand all the glowing reviews, most of the book is stilled ,difficult to understand and dull as ditch water ,no characters coming alive,it is laughable at times not frightening...
The only quite good part is the chapters written by the Persian, these are totally different ,engaging ,slightly thrilling, hardly creditable that they are by the same author.

I had to read it twice to like it. After reading it a second time, I grasped the story better and appreciated it more. I think the layout of everything can be a little confusing. The house under the opera house and all the chambers were confusing to imagine in my head, but after rereading, it was a lot clearer. It is a beautiful story and shows a romance that is also a thriller. The story is intriguing and the way that the phantom comes to terms with Christine's feelings is lovely to read.

Not very interesting, is it? Though I supposed my perspective is heavily biased on account of its cultural saturation. Why read this when you could see the Broadway show?
