The musical is absolutely amazing, but it is nearly surpassed by the book! Gaston Leroux explores some of the most unfathomable, yet undeniably real emotions and passions of the human heart and mind, providing a very in-depth, question-raising read. He intricately shows the mingling of genius & madness, of love & loathing, vigilance & superstition, justice & revenge, peace-keeping & unjust interference, and ambition & obsession. A tantalizingly savory read!
Hugely debated as my favorite musical of all time. I love the "behind the scenes" feel of this edition and the music... brilliant!

I had to read this for my 10th grade language arts class and let me tell you, I was not excited. I absolutely loved the movie, but I wasn't expecting much from the book because, well, it's old and books I had to read in school generally were not that interesting. This one was quite the exception! It was intriguing and romantic, mysterious and fun! Even with my teacher assigning use a bajillion projects and papers to do didn't ruin it for me!

Really enjoyed how absurd at times this is and the use of the frame stories. I did think the ending was pretty abrupt, but for the most part I really enjoyed this classic! (Read for hollows book club)
The section with the Persian in the corridors, such an incredible telling of one of my favourite passages of tense writing. Always gets me.
