(2.9 RATING; Rounded up for goodreads); Virginia Woolf’s writing style is very unique and I can appreciate this book for that. I found myself bouncing between being super invested in some of the characters’ storylines to being so bored I had a hard time focusing on reading. Septimus and Rezia were my favorite to read about; their story was so heart-wrenchingly tragic and beautiful. I think this book was a little more surface level than “To the Lighthouse,” which was honestly a little disappointing. While it was easier to read than “To the Lighthouse,” it was also not as profound or as interesting. I still really enjoyed some sections though, and I can see why people like this book.

It was perfectly executed in my opinion, with all the odd ends it needed to add to a sense of profound loss. The acceptance of death towards the end -- how sad!
Graphic: Mental illness, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide, and Death
Moderate: Classism, Colonisation, and Racial slurs

might have read this too fast but it was so good!! feels like a book that i could get a lot out of if i took the time to analyse it. first woolf🙏 i also used the audiobook and physical book at the same time which helped so much since this was such a stream of consciousness

very interesting look into the life of mrs. dalloway and her thoughts as she spirals into a deep depression.
