It’s been years since I’ve read this but I remember having to drag myself through it. The whole conflict was brought on by the main characters, yet they acted like they didn’t think all the consequences of their actions would happen. It was so annoying. The first book was pretty decent, which is why I picked up this sequel. But this book was so bad that I didn’t even read the last book in the trilogy. Either way, it was a pretty formulaic dystopian novel, so I assume the last book was about them “breaking the establishment.”

I love the way Allie Condie makes me angry at the book characters! Like really? Ky and Indie in that intimate moment? I thought you loved Cassia! But then it is revealed that Indie loves Xander, and it all gets better... sort of. You haven't even met Xander and you love him? Really Indie? Gosh, that girl gets on my nerves! And Ky's so sweet! He takes Cassia to the Rising even though he really doesn't want to. But then Cassia gets shipped off to Central, and he doesn't even get mad! I love Ky!
Thank you, Ms. Condie, for putting in Ky's point of view, too. I have been dying to see his thoughts and now I can! :) So happy! Such a good book!
Some parts felt slow, but overall I found this book extremely exciting. We learn so much about the reality of their world and the society. And there are many emotional moments throughout this book. Despite some negative reviews on book 2 in this trilogy, I personally loved it!
