Wow.
Even thought I read this book rather quickly.
I was soooo boring. I was reading just to say that I finished this series, since I read only the first book several years ago.
So many things happened that were so sudden and didn't make any sense.
I like Kye in the first book, but after this book he becomes less and less interesting.
While on the other hand, Xander became way more interesting to me.
The draw out love triangle just feels like a side plot at this point, but I truly don't understand why it's still going on. I don't understand why Xander still even likes Kesha. Kesha. Girl. Make up your freaking mind, because leading Kye or Xander on any longer is just immature and rediculous at this point.
Even though I'm already into book #3, the whole concept of The Pilot confuses me greatly. I also don't feel like the rebelion or the society are really flushed out as acutally goverment orginizations.

The hunger games if Katniss and Peeta spent the whole time searching for each other
Heard on audiobook. I was in disc 2 when I began dreading this book. The feeling never left me. The story is so, so cliche. There is no wow factor, no shocking turn of events. The ending couldn't come quick enough! Not one I will ever recommend.
This book is aight. I am not a fan of Ky or the fact that we get his POV. It really irks me when authors do this sometimes. They just decide book two that they are going to have other POVs. It's annoying when there is really no point to it. All we learned was that Ky just keeps everything from Cassia for no good reason. Like she knows nothing about him. I do not understand how she can love him. Also, he seems a little stalkerish because he also talks about how he has watched her since he was a kid. Idk it's just creepy to me. I am a Xander fan. He always has her best interest at heart, and he has literally done nothing wrong. Cassia actually likes him too. I just feel like Cassia is choosing Ky because that is what the society doesn't want her to do, I don't think she realizes that she can still defeat society and be with someone she actually knows and loves. Idk, maybe it's just me, but she has literally said that she knows being with Xander would be "safe" and that being with Ky wouldn't and it's just like girl take a moment and don't be stupid. Anyways, I know the third book is going to just piss me off because I know she ends with Ky but I'll still read it. Maybe I will be surprised. On top of it all though this book was also just boring. Nothing really happened. They just walked in a cavern the whole time. It was literally just oh I'm walking and I'm tired and also oh I love my lover. Even when the author added conflict it ended in like two pages every time. Like Hunter messed up these tubes made by the society and they were all scared that the society was going to come and they just never did. Or that Ky tried to burn the map to go to the Rising and Cassia caught him and forgave him the same night, even though he knows part of her purpose for going in the cavern was to find the rising because of her grandfather. This book was just boring and Ky is selfish.
Extremely confusing and excruciatingly boring, even on a reread years later! All the characters pissed me off, probably because they had no emotional depth! My favorite character was Xander, but that’s most likely due to the fact that he wasn’t in this book for long enough to be annoying. Ky is corny, Cassia is CORNY, and Indie is CORNNNYYYY. The setting was really like ????? I was so lost setting-wise and all-around plot-wise🤦🏼♀️
also ky’s audiobook voice actor was SO annoying in the basic anime love interest type of way
As Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in search of Ky she is able to unlock more of the secrets Society has kept from her. Ky on the other hand is looking for an escape, he has too much to hide and needs to get back to Cassia to figure everything out. As they each go on their separate journeys to find each other they end up finding more about themselves in the process.
This series went from starting out as the first book being one of my favorites to just having a mediocre book. I am still going to read the third in the series but I was highly disappointed with the outcome of this book.
I did like in this book how we got to hear from Ky and have his perspective on things but then again it was kind of needed since they were not even together for most of the book. Unlike within the first book I felt like the characters were more one-dimensional and lacked the intensity and emotion they did while they were actually in Society being watched. Cassia’s role seemed more downplayed and she did not come off as a heroine or anyone that could remotely be able to help the Resistance.
The introduction of Eli and Indie was a plus. Both of their characters shined through, especially Indie’s. Although I still do not fully trust her or her intensions she made the parts with Cassia more enjoyable to read.

I've read a lot of negative feedback about this book, and the first few reviews I read were talking about how much they didn't like the parts about poetry... well to each their own, but my favorite thing about this book was how much of it was like reading poetry. I really enjoyed the book being told from two perspectives, although a few times that got confusing because sometimes it would only be for a page, but I liked being inside Ky's head! I loved hearing some of the story we've already heard from his perspective. The new characters in this book were great, Eli and Vick, I wish we got more about Vick! and Indie... I still don't know how I feel about her. I feel like Ky... I trust her for some reason but another part of me is still weary. I enjoyed this book tremendously and I look forward to the next/last. I'm glad I bought them all together but now I'm afraid I won't want it to end! But that's how I always feel... almost want to rip out the last page of the book "I don't like endings."
