Dit was heel slecht en precies wat ik nodig had. Nu heb ik weer de motivatie om goede boeken te lezen.
It took me way too long to read this second book in the Matched trilogy. I remember enjoying the first book, but not fully investing in it. This book, I flew through.
While I still think there could be some more depth to the characters, and maybe a little less predictability, I definitely enjoyed this one more than the first.
These books fall under YA Dystopian with some romance/love triangle tropes. (Maybe it's also because I hate love triangle tropes that I struggled). There is adventure, rebellion, romance, death, pain, and relationships (friends, families, etc.).
The most physical content is kissing and I don't recall curse words.

This story was fast-paced and an enjoyable read. I did find myself questioning some of the character's actions/decisions, but other than that, it was a fun ride. Slightly predictable, but great for a young adult novel. On to the final one. I can't wait to see how this all comes together.
I enjoyed finally reading this after years and years, and I think younger me would have rated it 5 stars.
I really enjoyed the first novel, but this one felt like a bit of a let down. It almost feels like the author stretched the story out so that is could be a trilogy. I look forward to the third book since this one was just working its way to that story.
The follow up to Matched continues Cassia's journey from "normal" teen to one who has to make real decisions in a world fraught with danger and uncertainty. I'll not give any spoilers here but expect to see her main man Ky and Xander, as the book is told from all of their perspectives. It can get a little whiny and Twilight-y with Ky and Cassia's romance, but it's still a decent read.
I didn't like Crossed. At all.
It was pretty disappointing, and it felt like the whole book was filler. I was so bored reading it, and I kept waiting for something to happen. Matched was so promising, and I was hoping that a lot of the questions I had at the end of it would be answered. Sadly, they weren't. In fact, I have even more questions. I highly doubt any questions I have will be answered in the next book...which I might (or might not) read.
The poetry was irritating, and I kept waiting for it to stop. Did Condie want us to know she really likes poetry by throwing it in a lot?
Not only that, I just couldn't care about anything. Xander's secret? Don't care that he has one and that it's not Ky's place to reveal it to Cassia. Why bother mentioning it if no one's going to tell Cassia or if Xander isn't around to mention it?
The narration didn't work for me- it's told by Ky and Cassia, who sound exactly the same.
I have to give it a 1 out of 5. It was really disappointing, and it felt like Condie didn't care about what happened to her characters.

Very frustrating to read this as no teen I know speaks like this or is constantly talking about how much they love poetry.
Pretty much just reading the last book to figure out who the pilot is.
