Gosh darn it all! What happened?! Where'd the story go? I've been looking everywhere - under the fridge, under the bed, in my closet, and yet I can't seem to find the great story that was Matched.
Now, Matched wasn't my favorite book on the face of the Earth (only 4 stars, but, ya know), but Crossed fell down to the depths of badness with Exceptional and daynight.
Where was the plot? I seemed to be constantly asking myself. Why is Cassia just sitting in a random place for 10 chapters not doing anything but musing over nothing of any relevance? Why is there no action? Why am I finding myself taking 4 weeks to read this? Why did I not finish the book? (I have an answer to this one: it was BORING).
I love poetical books, and I don't mind if books can get a bit wordy...but if there is nothing but wordiness, something is clearly wrong. There was no action or plot. Cassia would just aimlessly muse about pointless topics that had no relevance whatsoever.
You know what this book had a case of? Typical Middle Book in a Trilogy Syndrome.
I couldn't finish this book, nor did I read Reached. Personally, don't get started in the series unless you want to invest some serious time.

I really loved Ky's point of view in Crossed by Allie Condie. I got this book on audiobook from my library and the guy who did Ky's narration was perfect for his voice. I wish all male parts of audiobooks were read by Jack Riccobono!
First and foremost. I am very aware of all the low star reviews I see about this book. But i can't help it, I loved it!
I devoured this second book just as much as the first part, if not faster. In my opinion, there could be ten more parts afterwards. Too bad it's only a trilogy. I can't wait to read the last part, although I'm sad it's over after that.

Meh. I really liked the first one but this one wasn't very good. I will still read the third one, once it comes out though. The author doesn't say who Cassia is going to see at the end of the second book. It could be Ky, but it could be Xander. Heck, it could be her brother. She just says him and that she's really excited to see "him" and that she doesn't know how "he" got a message through. Who knows?
unfortunately no where near as good as the first book
An amazing sequel...although the cliffhanger at the end is a bad way to end it. Considering we will have to wait another year or so for its' release date. I finished this book in 1 day and can't wait for another by Ally Condie.
I always look up reviews online before reading a book. When I finished "Matched" and looked up reviews for "Crossed" I was kind of disappointed because so many people didn't like it.
Now, after finishing "Crossed" I don't think I'll ever read reviews before reading the book again. Because I really liked Crossed.
It's really hard to compare the two books. The setting is totally different, and there are many new characters. But different doesn't always mean worse. I really enjoyed getting to know the Outer Provinces, new characters like Indie, Hunter and Eli, and finding out more about Ky (because, let's face it: we didn't really get to know him in "Matched")...
My favorite part of the book was the character development (imagine what Cassia was like at the beginning of "Matched", and how she's so much more independent now), and the fast-paced storyline.
I can't wait for the third and last book to come out (next month?). I feel like after Cassia found out about Xander's secret, the story will focus even more on the love triangle.
Crossed was a really quick read for me, and even though I liked "Matched" a little bit better, Crossed didn't disappoint me in any way.
