I sadly didn't learn anything new about animals through this book. Only more about the author. 
I found the whole thing lacking in science and studies and this seems to be a theme in this author's books. Sadly I won't be reading more from him. Three books have definitely been enough to know that he is not my type of nature writer. Just all too simplistic!

Das Buch begründet sich auf einer sehr guten und unterstützenswerten Sicht auf das Tier-Mensch-Verhältnis, welches sich vom anthropozentrischen Standpunkt zu lösen versucht. Mal gelingt dies mehr, mal weniger.
Es werden einige erstaunliche Beobachtungen und Erkenntnisse präsentiert - dem Tier-Interessierten, der sich bereits etwas mehr mit der Tierwelt auseinandergesetzt hat, als der Durchschnitt, werden leider schon viele davon bekannt sein. Manche Themen bedürften m.E. zudem mehr Tiefgang und ausführlichere Kapitel.
Insgesamt ein Buch, das hoffentlich den ein oder anderen Leser umdenken lässt und auch das Interesse für unterschätzte, verachtete und ignorierte Tierarten weckt.
