I am going to be honest: I 100% picked up this book because of its beautiful naked hardcover, and because of the promise of witches. I was BLOWN AWAY by how much I genuinely loved this book. I devoured this book in one day.
"The Nature of Witches" follows Clara, the first Everwitch in many, many years. Clara's special magic is not bound to a season, unlike every other witch. If Clara can learn to utilize her magic, she can help prevent the inevitable chaos the weather will cause on Earth.
I loved seeing Clara come into her own magic and discover her powers. She really struggles to understand her magic because no one has been an Everwitch for so long and no one understands how her magic works. But if Clara can learn to properly harness her powers, she can save everyone from a terrible fate. I also really enjoyed that the magic is linked to the seasons. This detail made the book so atmospheric, and I loved reading the details of every season.
