3.5, not terrible but not my favorite

I read this book in one sitting. The story was good and the characters had great history. In some parts I felt like the horror story was lost in the descriptions. It was beautifully written. Almost like horror poetry, but I felt like the writing style and the similes took center stage while the horror and the story were put on the back burner. It was a very great story and I recommend giving it a read!

2.5/5stars

This wasn't TERRIBLE like some people are saying, it just wasnt great. It was quite boring and the characters absolutely sucked. There were some spooky and fun parts for sure though.

I don’t think I’ve read a book where 99% of the characters don’t like each other and have to save the one character that sucks the most.

challenging dark sad

Some good lines in this one but the story itself is boring and borderline nonsensical. I get freaked out very easily but this made no impression. But of all the books I've read, this one having the lowest rating seems harsh. Oh well. What do you expect when my library's book challenge asks me to read a book rated less than 3 stars?

Not a fan. Which makes me really scared that I won’t like her other book The Salt Grows Heavy and that one I actually own….

It just wasn’t scary for being a haunted house / ghost story. I don’t think the ghost would scare my 8 year old daughter. The ending was good though.
