One night stand only to meet up again years later and be surprised with a secret daughter. It wasn’t perfect but I still really enjoyed it.

Tropes/Themes:
-MF contemporary romance
-One night stand w/ surprise pregnancy
-Single parent (heroine)
-Found family vibes
-Small town
-Dual POV
-Book #1 in an interconnected standalone series
-Ebook is available on Kindle Unlimited
I enjoyed this first installment to the Lark Cove series but unfortunately didn’t love it. I just wasn’t a huge fan of Thea and Logan as a couple. They just felt so much better suited as friends. Their chemistry felt a little too circumstantial around their shared child, and I had difficulty picturing them together had a child not been involved. I also felt like the suspense subplot could have been built up a little more.
On a more positive note, I really loved the found family vibes and the sense of small town community we got here. I also adored little Charlie and the way everyone doted on her throughout the book.
I definitely plan on continuing on in the series, but I’m a little hesitant about the next book because it follows Jackson and he felt like a real slime ball here…but we’ll see how it goes!
CWs for substance abuse (in conversation), child abandonment, childhood neglect, foster care, orphanages, financial hardship
Story: 3/5
Audiobook: 5/5 (narrated by Maxine Mitchell & Aaron Shedlock)
Length 10h7min

There came a point where the story turned predictable.
