I TRY MY BEST is a heartbreaking short story from one of my favorite Michigan Madmen, Shaun Hupp.
Raising a child as a single parent is never easy.
Being the single parent of a special needs child can be even more difficult, but it's better than being married to someone who refers to his own daughter as a burden, and uses her as an excuse to walk away from the family he vowed to love and protect - till death do us part.
Ashley's mom tries her best.
Sure, she gets overwhelmed sometimes. Yes, she is tired, and yes, she struggles. But, she tries her best.
Maybe if she tries hard enough... maybe if she is nothing short of perfect... just maybe that day will come when Ashley is returned to her. Maybe Ashley will come back.
