I've seen people say it's best to read the novella after Bonded By Thorns-you'll definitely enjoy the Easter eggs and foreshadowing better, I think-but you can totally read it before and not miss anything. I mean, it is a prequel, afterall!
It does seem to offer up some evidence about theories and suspicions I think many fans have had, which makes it interesting to see where things will go.
At the time of review, I have not read book 4, "Woven by Gold" as I'm trying to wait until closer to book 5's release mid next year. (IT'S SO DIFFICULT!)
