Graham Greene’s absorbingly introspective depiction of a disillusioned drunken priest wandering a land purging itself of clerics guides us on a journey of Faith and identity destroyed, tested, and questioned. A deeply engaging read of coping with growing self-doubt and cynicism but finding the ability to reforge a purpose after forcibly losing high-standing in society and bring marked as a traitor. Works as a smaller in scope prequel to 'Silence.'
