I know Julie is dead but in another life I hope they make up and Nwabulu sees Afam, her lost son.

The ending brought this down to a 3.5 but rounded up because the rest of the book was very well written.

This was such a wonderful (& at times, heartbreaking) story of women and resilience. I loved the author's nonchalant approach to unimaginable circumstances - it made it feel very real and raw. I adored both main characters and only wish this book had been a bit longer. I felt the ending was somewhat abrupt and would have loved more resolution; maybe book #2 in the future? 5 stars regardless - this was one of my favorites of this year.
