Lots of twists but in such a good way. Very smartly done.

Narrated by various characters, the reader learns first of a car accident that leaves one man dead and Jeanette with a secret that almost destroys her. Sandra gets a ride with a stranger, leaving her pregnant and witness to a terrible secret. Kerstin, the widow of the dead man, finds comfort talking to Sandra, who offers compassion and comfort through a phone service called Friends-on-call. This mystery offers lots and twists and turns. I did NOT see the end coming!! I'll be looking for more books by this author.

Reading Black Ice requires the reader to spend a lot of time in peoples' heads which can be a bit tedious as events are rehashed multiple times.
This is an average murder mystery with pretty obvious connections between the seemingly unlinked characters. The perpetrator was not too difficult to work out, either.
Nevertheless, a good stand alone novel based on real life events from the author of the Dark Iceland series.

I wasn’t that interested in the story about 4 people in a car accident. Two of them were having an affair.
