I first read this one over 10 years ago and have gotten around to reading it again and I’m very happy I did so. In typical Nora Roberts fashion, this story was a great romance, with witty banter, spicy characters and little bits of mystery thrown in.

I always enjoy Robert’s attention to detail and how she can create such an amazing atmosphere in her books. I really felt like I was in New Orleans, enjoying the wonderful cajun flavor. I also really liked the little haunting twist Roberts included in this one since it was different than what you would usually come across in a romance story. I really appreciated the unique way Roberts handled this.

I really loved Declan — Roberts really knows how to write a hero! He may be from Boston but he had all the charm of a southern gentleman and certainly knew how to hold his own with the fiery Lena. This book was very heavily about Declan — his connection to the Manet Hall, his renovation of it, his struggle in a new environment, and his love of Lena. Because of this I felt like Declan was his solid presence and Lena was just rotating around him. We rarely get scenes with just Lena alone going about her day and work. Because of this, she felt a bit one-dimensional in the grand scheme of the story.

WOW.Well,I finished this book a couple days ago.And I really loved it.I loved how Declan was determined to be with Lena.I just wished she wasn't so stubborn. But I also liked her that way.It was sort of a cat and mouse romance. And I loved the twist that involved the ghost of the Hall.Because he was Abby and she was Lucian. It was such a OMFG moment.I was just totally like, screaming.I just loved it!And I wish that I new how they are now that they are together.Hmmmm.I just wish there were a sequel or something.I just loved it.And I love books that are set in different states.Especially New Orleans.I love all the history and voodoo that is there.I really want to go there one day and experience it myself.Woo!Loved the book.

This was an excellent read as an audiobook. The narration was wonderful and added to the story. I enjoyed the time changes and how both viewpoints married beautifully together to tell the whole story. A mix of historical romance with some thriller characteristics, this book kept me engaged and guessing what would happen next!

Did not like the romance; preferred the ghost story which kind of died during the story

Fascinating read from page one. I feel like normally it's the heroine that can feel a ghosts presence and gets haunted, but this one the hero did and I love it! Declan was a dream. I did find the ending a bit odd. I wasn't sure what to make of it. But overall, a fantastic story!
