“The monster-if there was one - never revealed itself to me again. But what I had learned over the past year was that monsters abound, usually in plain sight”

One of my favorite quotes from At The Water’s Edge. A hard truth learned by the main character, Maddie, over the span of the book 📚. Scottish highlands, WWII, the possible Loch Ness Monster looming, and 3 rich (2 of them totally insufferable) socialites made for an easy, engrossing, atmospheric read.
