Love this book. Fast paced story, wirh loveable characters. Sophie certainly have mary sue aura, but it is fine. I have a good time while reading
I am unfortunately just a hater and kinda sad because I loved this series when I was in elementary/early middle school
Coming back to this book was so much fun. I remembered how much I love Sophie, and Dex, and Keefe, and Fitz, and honestly, everyone!

There were a couple things that were just a step too unrealistic. Like the whole money thing, turning animals vegetarian (how are the elves doing population control?!), the elves being all like "We're great" and still having a class system. I also would have loved Sophie to have had stronger female friendships. Then again, literature starves me of good female friendships.
All in all, such a fun book with an interesting society, a spunky main character and a well written plot. Now on to the next one!

o primeiro livro de uma série que me salvou de uns tempos sombrios. tem uma construção de mundo impecável e um plot que me fez querer ler mais do que os personagens fizeram (coisa rara pra mim). realisticamente, o livro merece 4 estrelas por conta das personalidades levemente arquetipadas, mas eu relevo isso por ser meu livro preferido e saber que isso melhora conforme os livros vão passando.

a sophie é extremamente mary sue nesse primeiro livro, fica até meio chato. cara, tudo o que ela faz logo no inicio do livro é muito melhor do que todos os outros elfos que já existiram, literalmente the best to ever do it. como eu li a saga inteira, eu sei que há motivos e essa situação fica bem balanceada em situações futuras, mas quem só lê o primeiro livro acha um saco. ela também é bem chatinha, e certas coisas são irrealistas. que tipo de menina de 12 anos não gostaria de chamar a atenção na escola por ser fodona?
enfim, desci uma estrela por conta disso, mas de resto, todo o livro é incrível. bem escrito e planejado, todos os personagens são muito bem construídos, e a história também é intrigante, te faz querer engolir o livro. bao

unfortunately, this ate. sophie suffers severely from mary sue syndrome but i’ll give her a pass because she’s 12 (or maybe not cuz that means she’s gen alpha. she wouldn’t last a minute in a room of sephora girls.) and lowkey the vibes were good
This was an amazing book that is now one of my favorites. The detail was great, and I could imagine all the characters and objects. My favorite part was when Sophie was rescued from the captors and learned that she had another special ability.
My favorite character was Sophie, but I also liked Dex. The part that surprised me most was when she got captured in the cave, and I like how she chose to be adopted by Edaline and Grady. I am very excited to start the next book.

This series got me into reading and I have been reading it since I was 10 years old, it truly feels like you grow with the characters and you form deep attachments to the characters and story
