Lee is a single mom to Mason. She runs a hair salon out of her house to make ends meet. Everyday is a struggle. Nobody but Lee knows who Masons dad is.

Noah is Mason’s tutor. He has a strange (to me) connection with the child. This is was a creep factor for me. I’m sure tutors grow close to their students after awhile, but this was just an odd relationship to me.

Grace is Lee’s best friend. She’s always there to listen to whatever is on Lee’s mind, but she gets tired of it. Lee is not the only one with problems.

When the idea is thrown out about the girls trip, Noah wants Lee to go. He even talks her into letting him watch Mason while she is gone. Lee is in love with him, so she’s not going to see the weirdness of how eager Noah seemed. I saw it, and everything in my mind said don’t do it!

When Grace finally works up the courage to tell Lee what has been going on, mouths will drop! I side with Lee on this one. What a betrayal from someone you trust and thought you knew! However Lee is not so innocent herself. More about her past will come out later.

By the end of the trip, only three of the four women come back alive and the plot thickens.

Did someone jump off the mountain or were they pushed?!

After the trip the book dives into the PAST , and gives us more background on Noah, Lee, and Graces lives. This is where it gets interesting. This is where the truth comes out.

I assumed so many things while reading, and I don’t think any of my assumptions turned out to be true except for one!

The ending of this book was shocking! I felt the last page should have said To Be Continued, because there needs to be a follow-up!

Also kudos to the author for putting her sexual assault out there for all to read.

I heard a lot of good things about this book and I couldn't wait to pick it up. However, it fell a little short for me. I struggle with the narrative style of "I have a secret but I'm going to keep it hidden for pages upon pages." And this is what was done with all of the main characters. Yes, they all had secrets and eventually all were (mostly) revealed, but it seemed a little too... disjointed? Choppy? I'm not sure, but it didn't flow well. It was like your best friend telling you "I have a secret" and you wanting to know what it was and they tell you "I'm not going to tell you, but let's go shopping." And the book went off in another direction.
I understand this is likely to keep the reader wanting more, but there was too much of it. By the end of the book, the ending was a little too out there. I had predicted most of it, but not all. The end seemed to come out of left field, but I guess that was the point. I'm still left with questions: whose diary entries were they? Was this whole thing really believable? And why did they never say that Mason was on the spectrum? (This last one bothered me a lot). He is described as having sensory processing disorder. This is not a reason to pull your kid from school and have him work with an OT every single day. Many of the actions that Mason described were those of someone with autism but this was never referenced.
Anyway, I enjoyed reading the book. I wanted to know what happened, but the unreliable narrators and the twist at the end knocked this down a few stars.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced review copy in exchange for an honest review.

From the first sentence, we know someone is going to die. A girls weekend is about to end in tragedy but who is going to die? And for what reason? The truth, amid the many lies, is revealed over multiple story lines that weave between present and past. Just when you think you know the truth, another lie will be revealed.

I enjoyed the plot twists but felt the story lines needed some re-working to be more cohesive and I felt misled by one story line in particular.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for letting me read an advance copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

Oh my gosh! Definitely did not expect that! I mean I thought I had it figured out but... This is the 2nd Rea Frey book I’ve read. I loved the first one but this one? Yes yes YES! Great book that will definitely pull you in from the start and won’t let you go until the last page!

Thank you so much to the publisher for offering me a complimentary copy on Netgalley!

Because you're mine is unputdownable, deeply hidden, compulsive, and shocking. Told in three different points of view: Lee, Noah, and Grace. Lee is a single mother with a son named Mason who has Autism. Noah is Mason's therapist and Lee's potential love interest, and Grace is Lee's best friend. Rea Frey kept us in suspense from beginning to end with so many twists and turns. Grace plans a girls weekend to help Lee relax and take a break from life. Noah agrees to stay at home to take care of Mason. But by the end of trip, someone dies. In the last few chapters, secrets are revealed and an unexpected conclusion. Trigger warnings include suicide, sexual assault and alcoholism.

Due to a extended illness I've gotten way behind on my reviews, so these are going to be short and sweet!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this. I am surprised by the ending of this book and am still thinking about it. I did not see this twist coming! I would give this book four out of five stars, only because I wasn’t inspired to devour the book and didn’t really feel connected to any of the characters. So this was a slower read than usual for me but I did enjoy it greatly.

I highly recommend “Because You’re Mine”. My favorite books encompass psychological drama, families, and controversial or delicate topics, and this book has it all. The twists and turns, the suspense and excitement, and the characters and relationships swirl together to create a delicious intriguing non-stop unputdownable read. Rea Frey is a great author with a talented knack at writing stories that pull you in and won’t let you go until you have no choice, because it’s sadly the end.
