So good! I’m a big nature science reader and I thought the voice behind all the information was engaging and really funny. I loved reading this book because it was so out of the ordinary but taught me about all the ordinary interactions that exist between humans and other living things. I feel like I will keep thinking of this book long after finishing it.

another great Mary Roach book. Definitely wouldn’t read if you are an avid animal lover though.

Funny and informative. Roach is great at exploring things so common we forget to think deeply about.

I read this as part of a book club, and not only did I laugh a lot, but I learned a lot as well. I felt the author’s personality come through, and I respect the tremendous research put into the book. It was very thought provoking, and my views tend to align with the authors. I thought the book would focus solely on animals, but there’s a chapter on trees as well, which did feel like a shift of focus. But overall, a really enjoyable read about a topic that could be very heavy.

this was an enjoyable, but not amazing book. essentially true crime of conservation with lots of random anecdotes. enjoyed some of the chapters, but struggled to get through others. really fun book to read while camping though!

random fun facts from the book that I learned!
-asian elephants poop approximately 400 lbs a day
-a kilogram of ricin costs approximately $150
-the state bird of utah is the california gull

Always love a Mary Roach book. I don't think my mom would have liked some of the subject matter in this book, but I sure miss the fact that I can't talk to her about it. She would have found components of this book interesting, that I know.
