Unflinchingly realistic and at times claustrophobic in depicting the pressures put upon its lead character, a member of an increasingly popular boyband who's out as gay and whose former and current relationship are gossip fodder. This book is really well done, but I did find the ending abrupt and kind of unsatisfying -- especially following the slow and deliberate pacing that led up to it.

Khorram writes teen interiority with a subtle sensitivity that rarely comes off as insincere or melodramatic — even with such a high concept like a transmedia boy band story. While the narrative is rushed, especially towards the end, there’s still 10x more nuance than most YA.

it was cute and a fun, easy read but nothing substantial. the characters always seemed to be victimizing themselves (something that rubs me really wrong) and there was too much miscommunication for my tastes. loved the AO3 references haha and the formatting in general though
