Love, Lies and Lemon Cake by Sue Watson is a laugh out loud, roll on the floor, makes you feel good no matter what is happening in your life right now kind of book. This is the first book that I have had the pleasure of reading by this author, and it will definitely not be my last.

The story centers around Faye, forty-something years old wife and mother who feels that her life slips away from her. Her daughter is all grown up, out of the nest, and her life with the hubby has lost the sparkle long time ago. When she finds the old pink rucksack, an old dream becomes alive. To live her life again. To see Santorini sunset, to make love on the beach, to swim in the ocean, and many other things. In the local bakery, she meets Dan, gorgeous Australian guy, little bit younger than her, who supports her. But is Faye doing the biggest mistake in her life? Or is this her second chance to live her life, to live a real life?

Faye is an awesome character. She has always been living in a nutshell, always doing the things she supposed to do. But when she gets the chance to live the life she always wanted, she grabs that chance with both hands. She is a wife, she is a mother, her daughter always comes first and I respect her for that. It takes a lot of courage to do what Faye did. Maybe she looks little bit silly from someone else's perspective, but between black and white there is always pink. Right?

I am just about the same age as Faye, and this book made me thinking. What am I doing with my life? Am I putting off my dreams for another day? Maybe I should grab the bull by the horns and start living for today instead of having a sack full of regret. This book will make you laugh, cry and think about your life. It will teach you of the healing powers of the lemon cake. It will do everything, but won't let you leave it until the last page, because you gonna enjoy it every single page. I know I did. I enjoyed this book and gave it 4 shiny stars.

OMG!! I have found a new favourite author. I adored, loved and enjoyed every second of this story. I was hooked from the first chapter. I fell in love with the little town, Faye and Dan and their relationship. This is such a beautiful, funny, girly, romantic and laugh out loud story that I will rave about to anybody who has not yet read this book. I would highly recommend it to you all.

It will make you laugh, it has cakes and food! It has girly chat and a hair salon. It even has those naughty sexy bits  making this the perfect chick-lit book for all readers. It also has a gorgeous cover. I awarded a well deserved five stars, I will not be able to forget this book in a hurry. Brilliant. Outstanding.

It is such a relief these days to read a sweet, funny story like this. Plus it has a hot Australian guy in it! And he can bake, and cook, and make you laugh, and ……. Oh I could go on and on about him! But I won’t.

Faye is a put upon wife and mother who has somehow lost herself in the years since she married. In order to find herself again she is going to need to make some tough decisions. Is she strong enough to make those decisions . If she does is she then strong enough to follow through with her living list and make her own way in the world?

Faye is the kind of person who never says yes to the tough things in life, but when she decides she needs to do just that all hell breaks loose! She is a klutz, she opens her mouth and let’s everything out, even if not appropriate at the time! But she made me laugh time and time again while reading about her antics.

And as for Dan! Oh Dan! The man everyone, well me anyway, dreams about meeting but never does! When he is around Faye just loses herself even more, but this time it’s in his eyes, his face, his body, his baking, his ….. Well, his everything!

For a laugh out loud book which almost made me cry several times you really need to pick this up. Go one click it now, I dare you!

Beautiful, funny, heart-warming story of a mid-life woman starting over.

I really enjoyed this book. It's well-written, and I love Faye. Even though I'm not in the same situation in life as she was, I could still identify with her and the struggles she faced when she realized that her life was in a rut with a man she didn't have anything in common with, and she had never lived any of her dreams.

Delicious. First of all, I run a regular blog post called "Literary Eats" where I highlight great food in great books. I will definitely be asking Ms. Watson if I can feature her book because THE FOOD IN THIS BOOK IS AMAZEBALLS!! And the book is lovely. Just lovely. I reached for this when my brain was exhausted after the first 2 books of Middlemarch. I needed a holiday. LL&LC was perfection. A slice of cake. The story was light, but not silly or overly-sweet. The characters were likable, but not cookie-cutter. The ending was perfectly satisfyingÑnot wrapped up in a bow, not a cliffhanger. Your imagination could take it anywhere. And like I said, the food was mouthwateringly good. A truly enjoyable read by a talented author. Now, hand over that secret lemon cake recipe. Immediately!

This is a book that will have a very special place in my heart. It tackled all my fears and made me realize that you don't have to stop dreaming, hoping, wishing or simply being true to your own self no matter how old you are or how lost you feel.

The ending was perfect, it felt real and I don't know how to put it, but I don't think I would've loved this book as much as I did without it ending the way it did.

Absolutely loved it!

Love, Lies and Lemon Cake by the lovely Sue Watson was released on 27th June. I had already heard very good things about this new romantic comedy, so naturally, I couldn't wait to read it.

Forty-something Faye Dobson is getting slightly tired of life. Her sex life is waning, thanks to her plumbing-obsessed husband, and her only daughter is away at uni, living her own life, growing up, and only adding to Faye's loneliness.

Dreaming of a life full of movie-star glamour doesn't exactly help matters, either - when reality kicks in, Faye's fantasies of seeing the world and sharing romantic adventures are dashed. A boring marriage, a regular job (even though her colleagues are hilarious) and a severe lack of passion are NOT what Faye wanted out of her life, and her marriage.

However, things are about to change for Faye when she meets Dan, the gorgeous Australian who has just started working at the deli down the street. He's lovely, adventurous, funny, a very talented baker, and seems to like Faye too...

Despite the ten-year age gap, Faye soon begins to realise that she isn't just being silly; that the tanned, handsome Dan is really interested. After showing off his baking talents with cake-loving Faye, the seemingly mismatched pair instantly take a liking to one another. Cue some wonderfully funny moments with loud-mouthed colleagues, and Faye's daughter who seems to assume, after meeting Dan in the cafe with her mother, that Faye is actually trying to set her up...

Can Faye really get the life of fun and romance that she yearns for? And could she throw away everything she has to be with Dan?

I absolutely loved this book. As previously mentioned, I had already heard good things about it, so I was already expecting a good read. What I didn't expect was to be unable to put it down until I had finished. Sue's witty, hilarious writing style had me hooked from page one, and I adored the cute and clumsy Faye, who is given the choice of living a life she has dreamed of. Sue Watson is a brilliant writer, a wonderful new talent with a fantastic style and lovable characters. I devoured this book in one sitting, and I'm already waiting for Sue's next offering!
