This was my first Dimitri Verhulst book and I was very pleasantly surprised. This book was hilarious!

Being a native Flemish Belgian myself, I could relate to so many things that were described in the book about the day to day life in Belgium and the reactions of people on what the main character would be doing or saying. But what I appreciated most of all was the wide array of hilarious Flemish dialect words and expressions Dimitri Verhulst used in this book. He had me laughing out loud so many times!

The plot was also incredibly funny, an old man tired of everything and everyone's opinions around him, who then starts faking his dementia in order to get into a specialised nursing home to get some peace and quiet and control over his life. I mean, come on.
I could've done with a little bit of a different ending and the book was definitely more interesting in the beginning than towards the ending, but overall, I had a really good time with this and I will surely be checking out some other books Dimitri Verhulst has written.
