#6 in my Austen year

This was a reread and has become an even stronger favourite. Of all the novels (and I have only Persuasion left to read) this has the best pacing, the most well-developed and lovable characters and the most gripping plot. The character and plot development starts from the very first page and continues until the end, with no drawn-out middle section or hastily wrapped-up climax and resolution, as some of the others have. The familiarity with the plot and characters upon a reread helps grow the appreciation of the humour and the excitement for what's to come. Happy to have read this again.
