Writing was pretty weak in the first half with a definite uptick in the latter. Thankfully, the audiobook hides a lot of sins and this was a really fun ride. Who doesn't love personal advancement through the literal blood, sweat, and tears of your enemies?!

A lot of new ideas in a way that seem to mix litrpg and progression fantasy. Not a lot makes sense in the beginning (especially the extreme luck of being chosen like that and winning) but by the middle of book 2 more pieces of the bigger puzzle is shared.
The MC is fairly likeable. The supporting cast gives a good dynamic, and in a lot of ways I really like the overall world building.
I have faith in the author and where we are going, and expect the next books to be even better.
