This book came out in ‘94, with an update in 2009, and it shows. Some info, like developmental milestones, is great! But the discussions of food are infused with a lot of diet culture value judgments, and the sections on hiring childcare blatantly encourage discrimination. I’m sure it was a great resource for the time it came out, but there are better guides out there now.

i guess i didn't feel like i needed this reference book as much as I needed the What to Expect When You're Expecting, or the 1st Year one. I think I started reading it a long time ago, but I just never felt like I had that many questions, I guess... I'm not going to rate it, because I barely remember anything about it now.

A quick resource...but definitely less used than the first two in the series despite the span of years this one covers.

Great as an ongoing reference, just as "What to Expect when you're Expecting" and "What to Expect the First Year" helped me not freak out too much or spend too much time in doctors' offices.

Like the two before it - straightforward and incredibly useful. I have to admit what I liked the most about this was the fact that it was a book. So often now everyone is getting their advice from bloggers and online articles - never really vetting if that information is factual or just some persons opinion. I like that when I wanted an answer I could turn to the book because it's been vetted, edited and reviewed.
A lot of it didn't pertain to my toddler but it sure helped. Highly recommended.

Somewhat helpful at times. Mostly full of advice that made me say, "DUH!"

Also a helpful resource. I didn't read this one quite as often as I read the other two, but still, quite helpful, I'd recommend to first time parents for sure!

I've kinda lost track of this one. Don't think I'll ever finish reading it so just gonna quit.
