This felt like a slow burn, but I think that’s because the unraveling of the mystery was so paced and intentional. The varying points of view lended to a distrust of the main characters while we sorted through the evidence. It was an interesting viewpoint for the reader, too, because it felt like the characters were confessing or otherwise entrusting their experiences to the reader. Hard to explain, but I appreciated that element. It was unexpected.

I started reading this book thinking it was a totally different story. The beginning hooked me and then I couldn’t put it down. I finished it in 1 day because I had to find out what in the world was going on.

It has some unexpected twists and I wasn’t even sure with all my guessing what might be truth or lies. It was a very unique book and well worth a Sunday afternoon of reading.

Finished this book in a few hours. I was soooo into the story and then a dumb character decision at the end knocked off a star for me.

My favorite book so far this year. Well-written, original storyline.

This book was written to be a page turner, and it was, but the writing itself was not very good and there was little character development...primarily because we're in a super natural world of mind control where characters are more than what they appear.

The book starts off with a private investigator seeking out a missing children's book author, then we end up in a place called Pastoral, which is an off the grid community where things get real wacky real fast. I would not recommend this book based on the writing alone, but I could see this story getting turned into a television series.
