i was fully planning on giving this book 4 stars until i read the last 150-200 pages of it today.

the story picks up months after the first one ends (i believe, not sure i started this book about 3 weeks ago) where feyre is adjusting to life with rhys in the night court.

the book is just so so long. that is the only negative. i guess i am not a fan of the “slow burn” type of book because i think that about 200 of these 624 pages could have been left out of the book. BUT i love the story so much. i felt as if nothing much happened in the first 400 pages and i was pretty bored (hence why it took me 3 weeks to read) and i’m having trouble remembering things that happened early in the book because it’s just so much information. but i love the characters and the plot, and i am so so excited to begin acowar tomorrow, although i’ve heard it’s not as good

the last 200 pages of this book were a real redemption for me. i couldn’t get enough of them. it was action packed and brought in wonderful twists and turns. i love the inner circle fam so much and cannot wait to see nesta and elain adopt to prythian!!!!!!!!

I am in awe of the second installment of ACOTAR. I absolutely ADORE the direction this took and have fallen in love with this world, these characters. Can't wait to start ACOWAR!

Stunning continuation of the book, much much better paced and built up than ACOTAR, I’m deep in the SJM universe by now, and I am not even sorry. Chapters 54 and 55 were, as I have heard through the grapevine before reading this book, absolute masterpieces, it’s been a long while since a book made me feel all the feelings so strongly, and I think I will be in a reading hungover once I finish the series. Really great tension, world building and build up between characters and all that vulnerability, my heart was shattered by the end. Very much looking forward to the next one.
