Wanted a quick and easy read and this fit the bill. Cute book. It ended quite abruptly, but I guess that’s to be expected with a novella.

This was the perfect light, quick romance read! It's very clean and fun, if a little cheesy. The one thing I wished was for more, especially of the two main characters developing their relationship.

Loved this Regency novella! In this story, Bianca is being pursued by a gentleman who is thoroughly obnoxious and self-centered. Her mother is determined that she marry him. Bianca turns to an old acquaintance Matthew who owes her a favor to pretend to court her so that Lord Strapshire will loose interest. The secret is that Matthew wants the relationship to be real and determines to court Bianca into realizing that he is more than just her rescuer.

Although this is a novella, it's a rich story that is hard to put down. The characters are well drawn and enjoyable. Love this author and definitely recommend this novella.

This sweet little novella was a fun story in the regency romance category. Bianca and Matthew were great characters and I wanted to punch the mother- which was probably the author’s point- ha!

Loved this Regency novella! Such a great background story to "The Incident" when the characters first met. Of course I would have loved more, but there was enough to satisfy me!

This is a very short novella and it just didn't work for me. When I pick up a fake dating/fake relationship story it's because I love the trope and I am excited about all the well tread ground it will cover. I want the "pretend" intimacy that leaves both shaken and questioning. I want the questioning to spill over into their interactions so they are left half-in love but also very confused. I live for the misunderstandings and silliness of this type of story but unfortunately this story didn't have any of those things. So I know my own expectations definitely impacted my feelings on this. There were a few fun moments but overall it just didn't hit the right notes for me.

2.5 stars.

I enjoyed the first half of this novella more than the second half. It was alright but not something I see myself rereading.

SpoilerIt started to lose me right when Mathew kisses Bianca publicly at a dance, because he wants to show people and her that he really cares for her and is serious about pursuing her and it's all not just a farce.

Well, that was a shit way to do that in that time period, in that setting. You just threw scandal all over your lady and yourself.

And to add insult in injury, the bad Lord Strapshire goes from being a self-absorbed selfish man to attempting to ADD more scandal by attempting to force himself on Bianca to order to make her marry him. (it's a proper romance so it doesn't get very far and there's no details ) I just felt like that bit was unnecessary to the story or the characters. And again, we make "the other man" not just selfish and inattentive and not someone you might want to marry into an evil lechereous jerk. It just doesn't need to be done all the time.
