I like Linwood Barclay's books, but this one causes me to ask: is he writing the same book over and over?

this was a really great thriller!!! It takes a little bit to get into the story because there are so many characters and so much going on. But once you get the people down, it really takes off from there!! So many twists and turns, literally keeps you guessing until the very end!! Highly recommended!!!! I will definitely be checking our some of Mr. Barclay's other works!

I've read a few Linwood Barclay's novels now and I've loved all of them, but I felt that 'The Accident' was one of the worst.

Character wise I just felt as though they were all the same everyone had their finger in the illegal pie. Even the narrators closest friends turned out to be blackmailers and fraudsters. To me this just seemed too far-fetched. Everyone Glen met was involved or guilty.
Kelly - The narrator's daughter - was to my mind a bit poorly written. One moment she was naive and innocent and acting like a child much younger than eight, the next she had the attitude and dialogue of a teenager. I had to flick back through the book at one point to check her age because I thought that I had mis-read it.

Plot wise I just felt that the whole handbags/drugs thing was too mismatched and not really interesting enough to keep me on the edge of my seat. There were some big plot points but I felt that the narrator was so blind to all of them and the connections between them that the pace didn't pick up until about two-thirds of the way through the book when he started to realise that everyone he knew was suspicious.

The ending was okay, yes the twists were big but only because the guilty parties were not really involved with the rest of the story and their part in the crimes was never really explained. It all just felt a bit too disjointed.

A pulp thriller about a sleepy Connecticut suburb with a hidden underbelly of organized crime. This started up pretty well but by the end of the book the body count was so high and there were so many twists that beggared credibility that I was pretty happy to put the book down.

Another win for Linwood. The situations always compound on themselves just when you think they can't get any more extraordinary and the characters always take on the bad guys and don't bring in the cops until really late, but it all make for a gripping heart pounding read! I enjoy his books

Pretty good. Lots of twists and turns...maybe too many. Quick read.
