It is now 4:18am and i have just finished this book. I simply couldn’t put it down until i finished. There was so much going on and the sneaky twists kept me so engrossed i didn’t even realise the time and my alarm clock is set for 4:45am!!
I haven’t read a book that has kept me this enthralled for a while now. Really really brilliant book. It has a bit of everything in it, murder, snipers, FBI, cops, drugs, romance, terror, love, fear, violence, kindness, betrayal, redemption and even some knitting ??
The Cincinnati series has been brilliant start to finish. You don’t have to read the other books in the series as this book does give you a bit of a back stories from the previous books that are relevant to the characters but i would defiantly recommend starting with book one – Closer Than You Think and the other two books, Alone in the dark and Every Dark Corner before this one as a lot of the characters cross over to the other books and with them their own traumas from the earlier books.
This book relates back to a previous case Adam Kimble had been working on involving a ring criminals abducting and forcing teens for the Internet sex trade.
And this time its personal, some one is out there trying to cut off any loose ends before they get turned in by the girls that had got away. Homicide detective Adam Kimble who is suffering from PTSD and Meredith Fallon, a child therapist are believed to be the targets and the book starts straight in with a bang.
A young man points a gun at Meredith in a full restaurant whilst wearing a bomb, from there on in it is non stop action right through to the bitter end. The story weaves lots of characters and plots flawlessly.
This book is a dark, gritty crime drama, with a complex plot, and super edgy suspense. It is also features deep and intense interpersonal relationships, and red-hot romance. The blooming romance between Adam and Meredith is the kind of romance every woman wants.
Move over Mr Darcy, i think you may have been replaced with Adam Kimble and Deacon Novak!!
Read this book, you will not regret it and if you haven’t read any of Karen Rose’s other books i can almost guarantee you will want to!
The Will Trent and Grant County books are by far my ultimate favourites with these Cincinnati books a very close second!
Defiantly a 5 star book, congratulations Karen on another wonderful book.

A return to form after the disappointment that was Monster in the Closet. I think this is my favourite of the Cincinnati series - perhaps the slow build up over a few books helped the romance. Better cameos than in previous books in that past favourites were actually put to useful use rather than congregating in a hospital waiting room.

I have to say still not a par with her early Chicago books. I guessed the baddie pretty early on.

I enjoyed this book overall. I hated Adam at first, but damn this book made me love him. Meredith is meh in my opinion, but she works for Adam, I guess.

Everything starts with a bomb, lucky for our main characters it didn't explode. But to whom was addressed? And why?
I love Karen Rose books, but this is not a standalone book, I don't recommend you to read this one if you haven't read the previous ones. This is a closing book, were the big case that had started a long ago will see their culprits in prison, finally!
It's always bittersweet to read the ending of a series, it had been years since I read their stories, cases... but in the other side it's nice to know they have a sweet ending, and a happy future!
In this case the main characters Meredith and Adam will have to face a mysterious character that will try to kill them, and with all the killing and investigating the truth, they will have to face their weird non-existing feelings that they had been hiding for a long time. They will have to share their own darkest secrets and fears if they want to have a real relation between them and if they want to survive. Because Meredith doesn't know who is trying to kill her, she doesn't know the victim or the possible killer, so what are they missing?
I have to say that in the beginning I didn't like Adam at all, all day drinking and being an arse to his friends and family, but after reading his personal torment I could understand his actions, I just hope that in the future when his darkness will try to abduct him, he will have the stronghold to ask for help.
This had been a non-stop read, full of mystery, action, a couple of very interesting twists and love. I am sure it will not leave anyone indifferent.
I can't wait for the next adventure created by Karen Rose.
Do you know who to trust?

Karen Rose's books are so good at sucking you into the story. I enjoy how she writes to keep you at the edge of your seat. However, in this book in particular, it was extremely repetitive with the facts being shared multiple times. I really felt this one was longer than what it needed to be.

Here’s another one of the Cincinnati Nobels by Karen Rose. I noticed something very different about this one; both our hero and heroine are damaged, each struggling throughout the story with their own weaknesses and traumas. What I really like about her books is that as you read them, as you meet all the different characters, you see who’s going to get together with whom. But even knowing that ahead of time, all 600+ pages of each novel are gripping, each romance is unique, and each storyline is different yet the people are all tied in together talented, you can’t pick your family but you can choose those friends who become your family...

I've read the other books in Karen Rose's Cincinnati series and really enjoyed them, but this one I didn't want to put down! The storyline is interesting and holds your attention. I started reading the series because I live near Cincinnati. I recommend the series, especially this book!!
