This book I would probably rate at 3 1/2 stars. It's a solid effort and I do like the characters, but the way in which the Malory family appears in the story seems a bit forced, although by now I'm invested in hearing all about them. :)

I like that the male lead is a bit more complicated than other protagonists for this genre, and that -- for once! -- the female protagonist is rather independent, and is a businesswoman.

I loved this book. Excellent characters who grew and adapted as the story went along. A story that held its weight and was believable, and just the right mixture of pirates, adventure, and love. If you're looking for a book that takes you back to another lifetime, this is the book for you.

I have a hard time NOT enjoying Johanna Lindsey's novels, and this one was no exception! I know a lot of people gave it negative reviews because it wasn't written like her previous novels, but I think they're being imprudent. Authors' writing styles change a lot over the years and with how many novels Ms. Lindsey has released, I highly doubt one person is going to like all of them. I haven't read them all yet, but I can honestly say I've enjoyed every one I HAVE read thus far (and I've read most of them). I'm looking forward to more novels from Ms. Lindsey!

I do love Johanna Lindsey she was one of my first romance authors I read as a teenager (unfortunately a long time ago) so I jumped at the chance to read some of her work again, I really wasn’t disappointed these are as fun and flirty as I remember. The characters are passion, full of chemistry and angst. The writing is good and although sometimes a bit formulaic, I still love them I know what I am signing up for, I know I will get my HEA and maybe a bit of tension on the way, but I will be satisfied by the end (or maybe that’s the characters!) Overall these are full of romance, escapism and I will dive back in any day.
