Honestly, this book was oddly cathartic. I'm no longer walking around everyday silently screaming "why is this happening?!" I at least understand why all of this nonsense is happening now. Even if the stories are embellished, the insights into the inner workings of this dumpster fire of an administration ring true.
Completely lurid, probably at least 50% fiction (I hope) and utterly enjoyable.
Incredible reporting. Once you read it you will see why some very motivated people (who don't seem to realise how experienced and reputable the author is, or even grant the notion of "reputable" journalists existing) have rated it down.
Wolff has amazing access to the key players in Trump's White House, and makes sense out of what (from the outside looking in) previously seemed nonsensical. Will completely change the way you view the administration, and especially Trump.

While the sources of the content of this book are suspect, I wouldn't be surprised if it was all true. Even if not 100% factual, it was at least an entertaining read.
Pretty sure they didn't even bother with the editing for this book. It was going to be an instant bestseller anyway.
I see a sequel coming!

Of course I was going to read this to see what it was all about. My biggest takeaway: the oversized male ego and how it creates conflict and problems. You have four men, Trump, Bannon, Kushner and Priebus who all think they are right and know how to best lead the country and none of them are working toward a common goal. It’s all about them and what they individually think is best. I think this is the main reason why this administration looks like a mess. Too many cooks in the kitchen mentality. The women in this administration are struggling to find a way to actually get work done and are constantly being distracted or upended by the “my d*** is bigger than yours” refrain. No communication, no management skills, no cohesive strategies. Until they can all sit down and agree on what they hope to accomplish during this first term, I don’t know how it can get any better. Honestly, even if I didn’t agree with them on a certain policy, I would feel better about the leadership on America if they all got on the same page and weren’t appearing to wing it everyday. It’s damaging to the office and to the stability of our government as a whole.
Update: Having thought about it, I've decided I WILL rate this. 3/5.
I listened to this as an audiobook while working picking blueberries. I'd like to preface this by saying I hate Trump. This book went on and on about Bannon so much that I grew very weary of it by the end and was glad it was over. Similarly, I'm sure the American people, and me as a Canadian, will be glad when the Trump presidency is over.
There isn't anything entirely shocking in this book, given that the news has readily covered every tweet and every word of Trump's. Contrary to what I expected, I wasn't surprised by how Trump is/was running things.
The book wasn't exactly academic. Much of it was he said she said, or an anonymous source said. I will say that while we cannot necessarily verify the veracity of everything here, it's pretty much believable given what we know about Trump.
If you know nothing about what's been going on with Trump and how things are running this might be somewhat interesting. That said, it's a bit duller than I had hoped for and simultaneously not as bad as it could have been.
If you are semi-literate you should be able to read this no problem. Wolff does toss out the odd word that perhaps a less academically inclined person may not be familiar with. But overall it's readable, or in my case listenable.
I don't like Trump. I wanted to see what this book was about though since Bill Maher had had Michael Wolff on his show and praised it. Since I don't feel like Trump is worth my time, I decided to listen to the book while being paid to work, so in a way, I was paid to both listen to this and pick blueberries. After 12 hours of listening to this over 2 days, I must say... ugh.

Torn about this one. Worried that the 4 stars I want to give it (because he does a good job of representing the chaos, turmoil and infighting since the onset of the Trump administration) may be somewhat misconstrued. If one needs a reminder that the White House is in utter chaos, this would be the book.
I could not objectively review this book because I struggled to separate my feelings toward the current administration and the writing of this book.
