Really good book for Tweens. If books could be rated with half stars, I would give this one 4.5 stars.

Story of a girl sent to a foster home after she is almost killed by her stepfather.

Some of the bantering between kids is pretty funny, but most of the book is what I would call heartwarming. The story shows that life has no perfect solutions to it.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a book that will give them a good cry, -- but is not TOO sad.

What a beautiful story of a young girl finding her own strength. Carley is a lovable character who you want to root for. I think this will be a regularly checked out book in my classroom library!

Couldn't put this one down. Great story about a girl suddenly thrust into a foster home and overcoming betrayal and her hardened heart. A must for middle school parents to read with their kids.

Made me cry, but was excellent.

4.5 - It took me a while to get into the story and to get a read on the main character. I'm glad I stuck with it, though. Well worth the time.

Oh boy. If you want a good cry then this is the book you need. It’s a fairly simple story plot wise, but the details and the development involved in this story had me finishing it in less than a day.
