This collection of essays zooms in on the work done by government employees, spanning from the National Archives to an engineer who works on preventing coal mine collapses. An excellent premise, and I appreciated learning about some of the valuable work being done. A bit uneven... the pieces by Michael Lewis and Sarah Vowell were highlights.

I didn't know anything about this book before I started and while I hoped it would be interesting in expected a boring book on government. I was however, pleasantly surprised to find a book about extraordinary people doing great things.
