I really enjoyed Patrick and Ari’s story! I loved the character development in this one and the plot itself. There are points where I’m just not a fan of the writing—not for me—but it didn’t take me away from the story too often.

I loved this just as much as the first one! Sarina Bowen has a real hit series on her hands. I can't wait for the next one!
My review will be posted on Romance Reviews Today in Februrary 2017.
ETA: This counts as "A book with travel" for my 2017 Reading Challenge (since Patrick has to travel to games).

Mini review:
Overall the second installment of the Brooklyn Bruisers was ok. I was fine with the plot, but I mainly had issues with the characters - and that's where the story stands or falls for me. For a short time I was also really really engrossed in it, before someone's stupidity annoyed me again. I would have given this book a 2.5 stars rating, but the small snippets of Leo's former teammates from college were enough to satisfy my curious heart. (:
Let's start with Patrick: all in all he was a very fine hero and didn't annoy me as much as in the first book. But I still don't get why the author even put haptephobia on him, when she doesn't want to deal with it properly. I really hate it, when the personality of one character disappeares completely, just because he's having sex right now and... oh the miracle, we now do not fear touching anymore, we engage it eagerly. It ... does not make sense. Second: I really hated his role on the team, because it threw me off the fangirling of the sports in general. The whole "code" and "fighting" theme was a real turn off for me.
While I could enjoy Patrick, I found no real connection with Ari. She is a nice and funny girl, but sadly, no role model to look up to. Not only is she a damsel in distress when it matters most (can't even push a damn panic button), but she also had a lot of antifeminist energy going on. She also let herself be pushed around by men more often than I would have tolerated it.
Together these two worked, I guess. But they are not my favorite couple. I hope Queen Lauren will finally be able to convince me of this series in book 3 :)

So fucking good. Now I have to go back and read Georgia and Leo's book. As well as go forward with Lauren and Beacon's book. Then patiently wait for Nate and Becca's book.

Closer to 2.5 bc this was just pretty average. I didn't love the side plot with Ari's ex and the whole underworld type drama? I feel like it was just not handled well. There was plenty to build on with just our two main characters. I would have loved to see the plot focusing on Doulie's past and making him vulnerable rather than all this other stuff? I felt like Ari didn't have a personality outside of her ex and his dodge business? Just a bit of a disappointing read bc I love some of Bowen's other work just maybe this series will be a miss for me?
I am enjoying this series, so far. I liked hockey before... but now I really want to catch a game!
I just didn't like how Patrick always called Ari, sweetheart. Stuff like that for some reason always bothers me.
A good story line... troubled backgrounds made for a jucier tale.

Easily the best of the three, and the one that pulled me in to read them in the first place. No previous entanglements, just two people coming together based on chemistry. The abusive-ex and whoops-I-messed-up subplots weren't bad, and definitely kept the story moving.

I didn’t expect the suspense part of this book, but it drew me in fast! I loved Patrick’s protective side, and they’re so good together. A detail I loved was that the closer they got, the more Ari calls him Patrick instead of O’Doul. And I can’t wait to read the story with Nate and Becca, I’m intrigued!
