2.75-3 stars. This was only an okay read for me. This is Arina/Ari and Patrick's story. Ariana is the team massage therapist and Patrick is the team captain. Ari does massages for the team, but Patrick does not like to be touched. He does need his injuries massaged though so they have to work together a lot and he gradually becomes comfortable with Ari. He is interested in her, but she just got out of a seven year relationship. Her ex was abusive and is now threatening her. She doesn't think she's in a place to start a relationship and worries about dating a player from the team. Patrick pursues her though. There is drama with Ari's ex and something from Patrick's past causes a problem too. But eventually it all works out, Ari gives in and they begin a relationship.
I liked Patrick okay. He was kind of bland. But I didn't love Ari. She pushed away Patrick's advances to the point where it was kind of mean. She acted like he annoyed her. I didn't think that she really liked him, even at the very end when they were in a relationship. She came up with, what I felt were, excuses to not date Patrick. I felt bad for him and I didn't understand why he even liked her. I never felt a spark between them or any chemistry. I felt like Ari just gave in to his advances but she didn't really love him. The couple was very serious. There was not a lot of banter or happy moments between them. That only led me to believe, even more, that they weren't going to make it long term.
I was disappointed in this book, because I really liked book 1, Rookie Move. And it looks like the next book will be Lauren's book. Lauren is Nate's assistant and a big time bitch. I don't think I want to read her story either. I do want to read Becca and Nate's story though, so I will be waiting for that one.

This is my first sports romance book and I LOVED IT. I like reading about a sport I don't know much about and the character development in this one was great. I loved the main characters as well as all of the supporting characters. Great pace to the storyline and very believable because... well... who hasn't had that c easy ex boyfriend? Looking forward to more books by this author.

3.5. It was a good story but some parts were lacking in this crazy tale.
