Thoughts: Really enjoyed this, will continue series!!

I didn't think I'd like Patrick's story, but it was actually pretty sad. Him and Ari are so stinking cute together, there was several audible awww's.

Good series so far! That massage table scene was noooo joke.

Rating~ 3.5-3.75 stars
Hard Hitter by Sarina Bowen is about the grumpy Hockey Captain of the Brooklyn Bruisers, Patrick, we met in the last book and the yoga teacher/message therapist of the team, Arianna.

Patrick had a pretty difficult childhood and hence prefers his solitude. He also doesn't like people touching him which is understandable and so are the reasons why he doesn't get too close to anyone. Ari, on the other hand has just gotten out of a long term relationship and isn't looking to get involved.  They are very different from each other, she's tactile, he really loathes touching. She's very social but he isn't, you get the idea...Now that they are both spending a lot more together since Patrick has to see almost everyday for his rehabilitation, things are getting complicated.

The book has a slow build up as we get to know the characters more and seeing their relationship develop. They are both attracted to each other but have their reasons for hesitating. They aren't sure of what to do with these feelings that they have....They were so adorable together, especially Patrick *swoony sigh* I really loved his character. Ari has a lot of baggage from her last relationship and is very reluctant to get involved with anyone so it takes Patricks patience and love for her to finally lower her walls.

Quibbles:
SpoilerI don't why but I felt like the whole drug issue could have been handled a lot better.

Overall I enjoyed it, Sarina Bowen is a great writer, you get sucked in with how she writes the characters and the plot and her couples are pretty easy to like.

I hope Sarina Bowen decides to give Nate his own story because he is so interesting, I loved seeing him in the book! Him and Becca are both very fascinating characters. Next up is Mikes book Pipe Dreams, Out May 2017!

So good! Ari and Patrick are wonderful leads, we get more interaction with the rest of the team, the hockey details are real and well-deployed, and the Brooklyn details are good too - still need to see if the One Girl Gookie bakery is real!

Loved that Patrick didn't pressure Ari at all, just supported her and let her know he cared. So nice to see a guy who would typically be "alpha" not be pushy and overbearing. And I loved reading his monologues about how he felt about his role as enforcer, and the mental toll that fighting took on him. Bowen does an excellent job writing players who feel real, and is clearly a fan of the game, and not just the hot bodies.

So looking forward to the next book, and any others in the series!

Loved Patrick but I had moments of frustration with Ari. Not necessarily a bad thing but it definitely affected my appreciation a bit.

This series is phenomenal!

I love each and every character. I love how each story intertwines and you get to see the progression of the relationships within the Brooklyn Bruisers organization.

Patrick, the team captain, and Ari, the yoga instructor, have such an intense chemistry. Ari is also the team masseuse who starts to work on Patrick as he has some hip trouble. They had some intense and sexy scenes together.

A fantastically romantic novel.
Must read series, and new one click author.

Until next time,

I was with the story until near the end when it went sideways with stalking, drugs, guns, etc. But it all came together in the end. On to the next one!
