Something about these books just scratches my brain in the exact right place. The writing style is so easy to read and the characters are so interesting and realistically messy. I honestly didn't know if I would like Jean, but he got such depth of character that I couldn't not fall in love. Him and Jeremy trusting each other more and more throughout was beautifully done. I can't wait until Jeremy's traumas start coming to light and Jean supports him through it. Also, more of Neil being a helpful little smartass is always a fun time especially from Jean's POV.

TSC pulled me in just like TFC did when i first read the original trilogy, in a similar but different way. i’m wavering back and forth between four and five stars, and i think the only thing really pulling back my rating on it are the scenes or little tidbits that felt really heavily like inside jokes from the fandom or just seemed out of place in the narrative. overall tho i desperately want the next book like immediately.
